This is a quick recap of a scratch league that doubled in size to become the league that you just had to bowl. No other league has matched the Traveling Masters excitement. No other league offered its members, FREE EVENTS! Yes, I said FREE EVENTS.
Thanks to all who made it memorable
and possible.
Even today, I miss some of the great competition we had in the Traveling Masters scratch league. The best sweeper by far with the 2004 prize fund being the record with $8478. $2573 in total added money from sponsors, Mr. Stats and our sensational Strike Pots. Two four game brackets were contested and the winner of both with a $10 entry could have driving hom e with $375. We have had three $1000 cashers with Ken Hosp doing it twice.
The league had the most unique format partly due to being a scratch league. Since the league had a president who wanted a better league like I did, he let me organize the sweeper offer more optionals (and I do mean many more optionals from other scratch leagues). In 3 seasons, the league went from 12 teams to a full house at Tucson Bowl with 24. This shows if you'll promote your league, who knows how big it could be.
Included below are a few highlights and just some of the articles for the Desert Bowler and info I passed out to the league. It wasn't your normal standings and averages that all leagues have. A couple of sheets were only passed out every five weeks after we just completed the rotation of the five centers we traveled to. No one said I had too many stats, but some said I had too many optional events going on. These are what appeared on the website years ago. It was the main reason for winning the award, after just eight weeks, that is shown on the right. So take a little time to read about the league's history on the very next webpage.
