It's time to
OPEN YOUR MIND!
A great win after many years of trying!
Click on what article you're interested in. I've added these on my website to show how the mental game could help you secure more victories. Some of my articles should help you with adjusting, consistency and motivation just to name a few. Some are about achievements while some are comical in nature as all good athletes need a break every now and then. ENJOY!
AUTHOR'S NOTE: The articles in this Mental Game Section are not in my books.
I have a new concept for athletes in my mental game section. I wrote two articles on life surrounding your sporting events you compete in. Explore why you should think more into several ideas to not only compete longer, but also live healthier. After all, without your health, what do you have? I see a lot of bowlers who could benefit from my info and one reason why I worte these articles. Any athlete that competes should be aware that some decisions affect both life and sports. Sometimes life wins over life because sports is more of a luxury, while life is a neccesity. Having fun playing sports may affect family life and you have to ballance both with usually, what's best for the family. NOTE: These two articles are slightly different and I thinking of combining them in the future.
Due to the limited pages of my HOW TO website, Iv'e put two or three articles per webpage. After the top articl, I put a next page button to go to the next webpage as some articles are lenghthy. This is to help you navigate my website better and to help get you to the articles which may help you get your game back sooner.
You're welcome. I do believe in trying to help others. Why do you think I wrote my HOW TO books?
These mental and comical articles are geared for athletes who not only want to improve their game but enjoy a quick read on their off time. Ahletes not wanting to learn new things are limitd by their knowledge. Not all my mental articles will give you instant success, but all mental articles are for reference and should help most athletes with their game. Check out all my articles, the mental library and some very good mental game web sites on the links page. One article could increase more positive results. Parts of your game might take some time as your brain normally rejects change at first.
Well, my first article is below and should help motivate you, as they are listed in catagories. I have some motivational sayings I see daily to help focus on what I MUST DO when I compete.
As always, have fun and I will

My 2nd HOW TO book tells you about getting consistent routines for SUCCESS!
Reaching goals will build your confidence!
Setting goals is an art. Your knowledge will help you set goals to achieve GREAT things. Goals make you accountable during competition. Go after them.
Small adjustments can be deciding change in win!
Because all athletes need to make adjustments. All good athletes will make the correct adjustments while competing and sometimes before needed.
Because the experiences lead to knowledge!
Challenges don't happen by accident. Time to find out who you are. Only you can go after bigger fish. If you not challenging yourself, who will?
Learn from the experience and make adjustments!
Speed bumps and most potholes are not fatal. On your path, you'll always hit a few speed bumps on the way to success. Get back up after a setback!
Only when you decide to try and try again!
It's very rare when you see everything going right the first time. Give it one more shot. It's not time to quit yet! Stay on the path and try, try again.
Know that getting up in the morning is the start.
Get up each day knowing that YOU CAN make a difference. This should be how you look at life for every new day and for any competitive event.
Motivation and support is all the team can ask for!
Realize that your actions, can determine how much success your team can have. Your team also needs to set goals!
What you want and what you achieve take time!
It took over two years to accomplish my goal. After finally writing about it, it finally helped me achieve my lifelong goal!
My MUST READS may bring you out of a slump!

Breathing and competing is what makes sports FUN!
Isn't having fun, one reason why you compete? It really should be the main reason. This positive attitude eliminates stress.
Getting up mornings on game day is taking a risk!
Sports is about taking risks and waiting for results. It is the best way to gain experience and have more confidence.
So, you'll definately sound smarter than you look!

My Fabulous 50!
By Alan Brizee © 2020 Author of The Path to Excellence & Excellence to Success.
The following are messages to help you get motivated and inspired to perform at your best. Some are equations while a few are acronyms to get the point across. Some are what I wrote while the rest have been around the block a few times. If you’re serious about competing and don’t have some reminders, where you’ll see them every day, why not? These reminders tell your brain what you want to accomplish. I have “focus” on my mirror to remind me to give 100% on every shot. After a few weeks of just average scores, I needed better concentration and I wrote it down, so I could focus better on every shot. Seven of the next eight sessions were above average, so the reminder did its job and made competing more fun. Check out my photos on my HOW TO website and you’ll see motivation in just changing the callender. Only have one or two where you’ll see them and change them every month to keep them fresh. I have them in categories, to help you with areas of your game that may need a little more help. Who said we all couldn’t need a little help?
Bowling:
1. Bowling is about managing mistakes. Mistakes happen because no one averages
300. Some 300s happen with one mistake. Put mistakes behind you so they don’t
destroy your chance at your goals.
Schedule:
2. Every day is another day to make a difference and inspire others. All great athletes
take every opportunity to make the most from all opportunities.
3. Great accomplishments can occur after the 4th step. Plan promises, prepare
purposefully, proceed positively and persistently pursue.
Goals:
4. Winners sets goals, commits to goals, pursues goals, keep goals in sight and plan
how to get there. It’s about achieving short range objectives to reach long range
dreams.
Attitude:
5. NEVER quit, NEVER surrender.
6. P – N = SD. Positive skills minus your negative attitude equal a self-defeating
atmosphere. This seldom happens to athletes with a positive attitude.
7. M = MM. Motivation makes miraculous memories.
8. The two best mind frames in sports, optimism and positivism.
9. Winners shouldn’t brag, build themselves up or put others down. They let their
results, speak for them.
Visualize:
10. Your vision for success must be 20/20. Focus on the situation, so it can begin to
happen.
11. Concentration to some athletes, is the only road to success. It’s the ability to
eliminate everything, except what you’re trying to accomplish.
12. Concentration during competition comes from having a dependable pre-shot
routine. If you have to remind yourself to concentrate, chances are you won’t.
Pressure:
13. F > P: The more fun you’re having will significantly reduce the pressure you’ll feel.
14. Admit to yourself you choked, so you can work on what went wrong and handle
it better the next time.
15. Some want their opponents to do badly. I want them to do well so they will
remember you more when you beat them at their best. This will put more
pressure on them in the future.
Adjust:
16. Adjustments can spark the momentum for that come from behind victory.
Practice making adjustments for your come from behind situation.
17. Adjustments are educated guesses and can make athletes educated champions.
Confidence:
18. C+ C+ C= C: Commitment plus composure plus clarity equals confidence.
19. Confidence conditions courageous characters.
20. When you put your mind to it and are confident, you’ll have inside you, the tools
to make magic happen.
Practice:
21. The amount you practice, could be a direct proportion of the success you will
achieve.
22. Physical practice prepares you for endurance. Mental practice prepares you for
the completion.
Prepare:
23. Putting in the most work makes you stronger and smarter for future competitions.
24. Winning takes preparation. Prepare by practicing, performing, paying dues,
having passion, having persistence, having a perspective and setting goals.
Enthusiasm:
25. C < W < C > W: Competing is fun. Winning a match is more fun. Championships
are the most fun. Work is needed to win championships. Put in the work and
many fun times are ahead.
26. Happiness helps humans with high hopes achieve high ranks.
Motivation:
27. Dedicate sports with excellence, to make success within your reach.
28. Getting up every time you fall, will get up one step closer to success.
29. Motivation is the driving force for champions to achieve their greatest
accomplishments.
Risk:
30. It is worth the risk to compete, to improve, to set goals and to show others you
have what it takes! The risks while climbing to the top of the mountain, were
worth it.
Challenges:
31. Accepting challenges will gain valuable experiences. These experiences will lead
to having more chances at victory. These victories will lead to having success.
32. Some days, the challenge may be just getting up in the morning. Challenge
yourself to get up and make it a great day.
Character:
33. Only after a commitment to excellence, can an athlete climb the ladder to
success.
34. Don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be done. Some of the G.O.A.T.’s have proved them
wrong.
35. Acknowledge your mistakes to come back smarter tomorrow.
36. Don’t be a What if? athlete, be a Next time … athlete.
37. What do champions have in common? Confidence, consistency, concentration,

reward.
Experience:
40. The zone is where preparation meets opportunity. You’ll be relaxed, confident,
focused, effortless, automatic, having fun and always in control.
41. Winners will get something out of every situation. They think and act positive,
want to learn, are early, think about solutions, concentrate on what to do, are
mentally tough, do more such as practice or lessens, are consistent, are
prepared, hustle, are aggressive, know their limitations, accept adversity, share
and help others.
Ability:
42. We all know that miracles will happen, the question is, if you’ll make them
happen.
43. The seven abilities of a complete athlete: Strong mental game, good physical
game, an inner drive, has leadership skills, is resourceful, has the courage to
climb the mountain and respects their opponents.
Success:
44. Success happens by acquiring victories, learning from defeats, accepting
challenges and making a commitment to excellence.
45. Winners are successful because, once they begin, they do ordinary things
extraordinary well, have extraordinary determination, have good judgement due
to experience, makes commitments, not afraid to lose and never quits.
46. The elite 8 success skills of athletes: Focus during competition, creative thinking,
result analysis, composure, concentration, emotional power, energizing and

are not going to win.
49. Happiness shared with teammates is the greatest achievement.
Seniors:
50. The greatest benefits of old age are experience and knowledge. These will be the
weapons used to defeat the ‘kids’.
END NOTES: Don't get too motivated before competition that you forget to focus and miss the trip to the Zone! Going after the league championship is motivation on its own. Keep your emotions in check to not get too excited by any event you'll compete in! Don't fall into their trap of trash talking! There's plenty of time to talk, after the match is over!
As always, See you in the Zone!
Motivation happens when you start winning awards for your achievements!
